Nothing beats the flawless finish of a freshly painted wall. But over time, knocks, scuffs and dirty handprints can take the sparkle off your favourite shade. Not if you use a washable paint.
Washable paint allows you to clean off dirty marks or scuffs without washing away the paint itself. It’s one of the many great qualities of Frenchic products. That’s why we’re delighted to have our Chalk Wall Paint range named as the very best by Good Housekeeping…
Putting paints to the test
There are plenty of paint products out there which claim to be washable or scrubbable. Unfortunately, not all of them meet the grade.
To find out for themselves (and their readers), The Good Housekeeping Institute team got 22 brands of washable paint and put them to the test with five factors in mind:
- Application
- Consistency
- Coverage
- Washability
- Durability
After application and drying, they scuffed the paints and applied some quintessentially tough stains, including mud and red wine. When cleaning those stains off, they noted whether scrubbing and wiping affected the colour of the paint – and how well the stain was removed.
They also checked how true paints were to their colour cards and labels, testing a range of colours from each brand.
Best in show: Frenchic!
After testing all the paint brands and their various colours, The Good Housekeeping Institute gave them a score out of 100 and dished out a selection of awards. They spanned from best budget and mid-range to best colour range.
We’re delighted to see that our Chalk Wall Paint range scooped the prize for best washable paint overall – as well as being the best washable chalk paint. Our score of 87/100 saw off competition from the likes of Dulux, Farrow & Ball and so many more to claim the top accolade.
“If you’re looking for a classic chalk finish, you don’t need to scroll any further,” they said in their write-up. “The paint was effortless to apply (both brushes and rollers achieved a smooth finish), it had only the mildest of odours and it dried to the touch within an hour.
In terms of stains, they “found stains wiped off easily when tackled quickly – in fact, felt tip pens left no residue.” Even after 24 hours, their team managed to remove wine, tea and foundation, commenting that they were “impressed with its scuff resistance as no marks were left after cleaning.”
