Scrubbable & Washable Paint

To be practical, paint needs to be washable! For matte paint, the standard is ISO11998 Class 1 wet scrub and Frenchic ultra-matte Chalk Wall paint passed with flying colours. Plus, it has been voted best washable wall paint by the Good Housekeeping Institute.

Matte wall paint has developed a reputation for being difficult to clean. In the past, it stained easily and wore away without a fight when scrubbed. The result was tired-looking, grubby walls – or restricting the use of matte paint to low-traffic areas. Not anymore…

Washable paint – in fact, totally scrubbable paint – is a real thing! It provides a practical alternative to old-fashioned matte paints, so you’re no longer restricted to where you can paint or the finish you can go for.

To make sure paint is scrubbable, look for the highest international standard – ISO 11998 Class 1 Wet Scrub rating. This ensures that your paint has passed an internationally recognised test using a scrub testing machine. Specifically, it means it loses less than 5 micrometres of film after 200 scrubs. For context, a piece of household dust is around 40 microns!

At Frenchic, our entire Chalk Wall Paint range has achieved an ISO 11998 Class 1 Wet Scrub rating, along with EN71-3 certification – meaning it’s safe for painting children’s toys. So, whether you’re painting a nursery, hallway, living room or dining room, you don’t have to worry about the scuffs and marks that come with the busiest of areas.

Choose from a selection of beautiful colours, ranging from whites, off-whites and pastel shades to bright, bold and brave tones. Whatever your preference, there’s no compromise on the results – with an ultra-matte finish every time from our washable paint.
