Vinyl Wraps - How to Use
What you will need
You can transform your surface using these tools, many of which you'll probably have around your home.
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Tape Measure
- Hairdryer
- Silicon sealant (for sinks and hobs)
- Water spray bottle (for use on high gloss surfaces)
- Frenchic Application Kit
Step-by-step instructions to help you perfectly cover a surface using our self-adhesive vinyl wrap.
- Ensure surfaces are in suitable condition for applying the vinyl wrap. Clean the surface thoroughly so it is free from grease and dirt and then wipe completely dry before applying the vinyl wrap.
- Carefully remove vinyl wrap from the packaging taking care not to bend it.
- Measure the length and width of the surface to be covered.
- Use the grid on the backing paper to and use sharp scissors to cut the film to the size you need. (Allow enough overhang to wrap around the edge of the surface you are covering).
- From a corner, peel back a small section of the of backing paper.
- Position the first section of the self-adhesive vinyl wrap and press down gently to fix it in place.
- Use the Frenchic Application tool to more easily smooth the wrap from side to side, peeling off the backing gradually. Can be re-applied if needed.
- Peel away the backing paper a little at a time and continue to firmly smooth the vinyl into position, working the application tool from side to side.
- If applying to a surface that includes a sink and drainer, cut an X shape over the sink to create a hole to feed the tap through. Trim away excess vinyl.
- Push the film into the edges surrounding the sink and drainer.
- With your fingers wrap the vinyl wrap securely around the edge of the worktop.
- Using a hairdryer can help you to mould the film into place, particularly around curved edges.
- Trim any excess vinyl using the utility tool with a retractable blade supplied with the Frenchic Application Kit for a clean, professional finish. The top section of the knife can be snapped off to reveal a sharp new blade.
- We recommend you apply silicon sealant around sinks and hobs.
- High gloss surfaces can be sprayed with water to help the film glide into place and minimise bubbling. The water will dry out after 24 hours.
How to Tackle Corners
- Cut a diagonal line in towards the corner of the pieces of furniture.
- Fold one of the flaps around and stick into place.
- Fold and stick the second flap and stick into place.
- Trim away the excess.
- Apply heat from a hairdryer to stick the vinyl securely into place.
- Wrap the remaining vinyl securely around the edge of the item.
- Trim away excess and apply more heat from the hairdryer to mould the vinyl into place.
- Ensure all edges are stuck securely into place.
