DIY Wooden Dog Bed Inspiration
If you share your home with a four-legged friend and you spend a good amount of time outdoors, why not create a designated space in your garden for them too?
What you’ll need:
- Frenchic Al Fresco Paint
- Pallet wood or other off-cuts you want to recycle
- Hand-held paint sprayer or paintbrush
- Electric screwdriver & saw
- Sandpaper
- Large cushion to fit inside the frame
Top tips:
Building a wooden dog bed is simple and can be done on a very small budget using off-cuts from old pallets. You can buy cheap pallets online or some businesses give them away for free, so it’s worth asking around your local area.
Simply saw up some pieces of wood and arrange them to create a frame in whatever shape and size that you’d like, then screw them together using a screwdriver.
You can then personalise your DIY dog bed using our child-safe, non-toxic Al Fresco paint to give your repurposed wood a clean and fresh look. Using a paint sprayer will be quicker, but a paintbrush is good for adding finishing touches like a name panel.
It’s a good idea to lightly sand off any rough edges beforehand, to make application easier and to protect your dog from any large splinters. The self-levelling paint formula will also help you get a smooth finish and two coats will fully weatherproof your item.
Don’t forget to add in a cushion so your beloved pooch can lounge comfortably!
