A treasure trove of creativity, jewel paint colours bring luminous warmth and timeless beauty to every space. If you’re ever feeling a little cautious about bringing bold shades into your home, explore jewel paint shades - there’s something there with just the right balance of personality, drama and energy for you.

This project is one of my favourites as it shines a light on how different colours, used in different ways can make a significant impact on each individual space throughout one home.

Who couldn’t love this beautiful bureau? From its deep lapis lazuli shade to its playful gold tassel - this piece is just pure joy from top to toe. Kiss Me Sloely and Gorgeous Gold Frensheen are the perfect pair here, combining timeless glamour with delicious and rich colour to create a statement that shines.

What I learned

For this project, I learned to embrace dark, inky wall colours. A luminous and rich backdrop, such as Bandido or Smudge will create a warm, inviting space that lets jewel colours glow.

Here I’ve paired Black Forest with beautiful peridot and warm jade shades - the dresser upcycled in Constance Moss with gold accents.

Challenges & tricky bits

This emerald green Victory Lane shade is gorgeous, the perfect setting for a crackling log fire. I knew I wanted to divide the wall to maximise light, create a modern retro feel and really let the colour shine. Getting the line right was a labour of love (and a lesson in taking my time!) But with a good tape measure, quality painter’s tape and a Petite Oval Brush the finished result was more than worth it.

Key take-aways

- If you’re feeling cautious about colour, jewel toned furniture and accessories will bring personality and character to your space

- Dark backgrounds are a great way to let jewel accents glow - explore Frenchic’s Dark paint colours and try shades in different lights to find a warm, atmospheric background for your space.
