Spring's here, and you know what that means – time for a little refresh! I've been eyeing up a few bits and bobs around the house that were feeling a bit neglected. First on the list? This cool old lamp I snagged from a French brocante ages ago. It was just sitting there, waiting for its moment to shine. So, I grabbed some gorgeous Wall Paint in Sundowner and Pinch Punch and gave it a whole new vibe.

1. Get Things Clean!

First things first, I gave the lamp a good scrub using Frenchic Sugar Soap (be sure to follow the instructions on how to use it) to get rid of any dust and grime. This helps the paint stick properly, so don't skip this bit! Make sure every part is clean and then let it dry completely.

2. Layer on the Sunshine

Next up, the main colour! I painted on three thin, even coats of Frenchic Sundowner paint. The trick here is to let each coat dry fully before you add the next one. Trust me, this makes all the difference for a smooth finish. Just take your time and use nice, even brushstrokes.

3. Add a Bit of Colour Pop!

To give it a bit more oomph, I added two layers of Pinch Punch paint to the base and the middle bit of the stand. Again, make sure each layer is dry before the next. Focusing this colour on those areas of the lamp creates a cool layered look without going overboard.

Step Two: Mark Cutting Lines

Using a pencil and ruler, draw the desired shape for your signs directly onto the pallet wood. Consider simple shapes like arrows.

Handy Tip!

It was pretty sunny and hot when I did this project, so I decided to paint indoors. This helped the paint dry nice and smoothly. If you're painting outside, try to find a shady spot to keep things cool.

Voilà

My old lamp is now rocking a warm and cheerful splash of colour in the room.

Every time I see it, I'm not just loving the new look, but also remembering how satisfying it was to give it a little TLC. So whether it's a lamp or a vase or a chest of drawers a small project and a bit of time are all you need to give you a whole lot of joy!
