Vinyl wraps are an easy way to refresh a range of surfaces, including furniture, kitchen cabinets and worktops. That said, there are some tricky parts like corners, which require special attention. Here’s how to get the best results in a few simple steps...

Applying your wrap to the main surface

It’s best to tackle tricky areas at the end, once you’ve got the majority of the wrap applied to your surface. In short, you’ll need to clean the surface using Frenchic Sugar Soap, cut your wrap to size (leaving a little bit more than you need to ensure full coverage), then peel back the protective film and place onto your surface.

Use the smoother included in your application kit to iron out the wrap, working out any air for a flat, smooth surface. For more detail, we’ve covered how to apply vinyl wraps in these handy guides:

Wrapping corners in 4 simple steps

With the majority of your wrap in place, it’s time to tackle the corners.

  1. Start by scoring down the middle of the wrap where it goes over the corner.
  2. Next, smooth out the wrap on each side of the corner.
  3. You can then continue to flatten the rest of the wrap along each side of the surface around that corner.
  4. Afterwards, trim off any excess along the side of each surface for a precise finish.

Advice for rounded corners

Of course, things can be a little trickier if your corners are rounded. If this is the case, use a hairdryer to heat the wrap while you work it around the curved surface with your smoother. This will make it easier to work out rough edges
