Preparation

  • Before using Easy Crackle, you need to decide on your base colour and top colour
  • The base colour could be the existing surface (wood, terracotta, previously painted etc) or you can apply a new paint colour. Allow sufficient drying time, if you choose to paint it
  • Ensure the surface is clean, dry and in suitable condition for painting
  • You can watch our video on how to prepare surfaces for painting here
  • Stir Easy Crackle well before use

Application and drying

  • We recommend you practice the technique before embarking on a large project
  • Watch our video on Frenchic TV for a great demonstration!
  • Avoid applying in damp or cold conditions
  • The technique is to apply Easy Crackle (we recommend using a brush) over your chosen base (see above)
  • Leave the glaze to dry to a minimum of 2 hours
  • Apply your chosen top colour - apply using a single brush stroke for each area. Do not be tempted to over brush as this will remove the developing crackle effect
  • Allow to dry and then add a top coat or wax for additional effect and durability

Clean up and storage

  • Reseal the tin after use
  • Clean up any spills immediately with water
  • Wash brushes in warm, soapy water as soon as possible
  • Do not store where the container could be subjected to damp, frost, freezing or high temperatures
